Survivors Together 2019 Annual Report

“SURVIVORS TOGETHER has had a good year. It has been busy with numerous new contacts, a lot stemming from the #metoo campaign which gave women the power, confidence and ability to speak up about what has happened to them and historic CSA.

We continue to run three groups a month – one for under 25s and two for 25yrs+. I am very proud of the work Shahanaz has done with the young women’s group with support from Helen.

The two groups for 25yrs+ focus on a variety of themes emphasising wellbeing and good healing journeys. The topics include Thai Chi, mindfulness, looking at addictive behaviour and somatization.

As well as our regular meetings, we have had several events including a trip to the beach and a great Christmas meal together. In September, we stayed at The Othona retreat centre for two nights and three days. Thank you to Othona staff for a great welcome.

Our women survivors are all very brave, acknowledging and then making steps forward with integrity

This coming year sees the end of the lottery community funding which we have been very grateful to have received.  Thank you Lottery and to all supporters of the lottery which enables the organisation to help charities like ours.

We have just employed a fundraiser on a ‘win a grant and pay a fee’ basis. We are grateful to Diana for being willing to work for us in seeking future funding.

As we are at the end of our year and nearly in the Christmas season, may I wish you a happy and peaceful season.

Many thanks to you all – survivors, supporters and workers, and a special thanks to the steering group for all you do.”
